Thirty (two) out of fifty
It’s the time of the year when we look back and take stock. What have we seen? Where have we been? What’s left to do?
Admission: NEW YORK POLYPHONY WANTS TO PERFORM IN ALL FIFTY STATES!
How are we doing? Here’s a map of the United States, color-coded for your viewing pleasure. (It’s a bit small here, but if you click it, you can see it in greater detail.) The BLUE states are all the states in which New York Polyphony has performed over the past six years— 30 in total. The WHITE states are still missing from our resume— 20 of them. We’re inching toward 50. 2012 brought debuts in Mississippi, Tennessee, Utah, Illinois, Montana, Nevada and Alaska. We loved them all! From the amazing views in Cedar City, to the ridiculously good food in Missoula, to the warm welcome of Nashville, to the majestic mountainsides of Juneau, we definitely enjoyed seeing new places and meeting new people throughout the US.
So, what is in store in 2013? We’ll turn Louisiana and North Carolina blue…which will bring our state tally to 32! Other journeys include California, Texas, Canada, and even Germany.
How do we get to FIFTY? We’d love to visit your state (especially it’s one of the states in white above!) and perform in your town. If you’re a fan and know of a concert hall, performance series or music festival, please let us know. We’re totally open to suggestions!
And, hey, while I’ve got your attention, Happy 2013!
