Thank you for 2013
I had planned to write a lengthy recap of the year. But at the last minute, I changed my mind. And for good reason. It’s not that there aren’t A LOT of great moments to recount, or highlights to share. It’s just that there are SO MANY people who helped to make 2013 a success, that it’s only right that we take a moment to say ‘thank you.’ But we’re not talking about our close collaborators and colleagues. Yes, they deserve a ‘thank you,’ too, but they receive recognition in the form of liner note acknowledgements, reviews, and program listings. No, we would like to thank our larger community of friends, fans, and supporters— the people behind the scenes who aren’t thanked enough. People like…
…volunteers who man ticket tables, students pulling double-duty as stage managers and artist liaisons, patrons who stage elaborate receptions in their homes, board members who retrieve us from airports and act as local ambassadors, hosts who agree to house four strange New Yorkers, concert goers who wait patiently in line to buy CDs or to request that we sign their programs….
It’s not an exaggeration to say that what we do would NOT be possible without their help. Touring as much as we do has taught us how much hard work goes into presenting, promoting, and preserving classical music. So, thank you for your commitment.
And lastly, we’d like to thank our ever-expanding band of social media followers. It is so fun for us to be part of such an interactive community of music lovers. We really appreciate how quick you are to comment on, “like”, and share our posts and videos!!
So once again, thanks for making 2013 such a great year. (We created a fun YEAR IN REVIEW photo gallery on our Facebook page in case you’d like get a pictorial tour of the past twelve months.)
Let’s make 2014 even better!!
